Billy Ray Lynn

March 18, 1952 — February 20, 2025

Amboy

Billy Ray Lynn, age 72, passed away peacefully at home on February 20, 2025 in Amboy, WA with his family at his side. Billy was born March 18, 1952 to Jack and Aline Lynn in Raleigh, NC. Although Billy did not finish his schooling, he never lacked for knowledge or experiences. Billy worked many jobs throughout his lifetime, starting as a shoe-shine boy at Raleigh-Durham airport at the age of 12, where he received his first $100 bill. Billy worked at a textile mill making fabrics, janitorial work at the airport, and he was a truck driver for 47 years. He loved helping people and would give the shirt off his back if needed. He also loved working on the farm with his Farmall 140 tractor.

On July 17th, 1982, Billy was united in marriage to Annette Stanly. They raised four children: Cynthia, Johnny, Billy Jr, and Ronald in Pikeville, NC. In 2016, Billy and Annette moved to Badger, SD to be near their children and moved again in 2018 to Amboy, WA to be with their boys.

Billy was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church and in great weakness, held steadfast to his beliefs.

Billy is preceded in death by his wife and loving helpmate of 41 years, 7 months: Annette, his parents, one son: Johnny Betts, 3 brothers: Robert, Sam and Ronald. Billy is survived by two sons: Billy Jr with Connie of Vancouver, WA, Ronald with Sheyenne of Winlock, WA, one daughter: Cynthia Betts of Las Vegas, NV, 2 grandchildren: Wayne and Whitney Betts, 2 greatgrandchildren: Elena and Leon, 1 brother: Jim Lynn, 2 sisters: Jo with Dennis Dillard and Kay with Richard Buchanen. Special thanks to all the caregivers who helped care for and visit with him over the past couple of years and his passing.
