Curtis Francis Sarkinen, age 83, passed away on July 11, 2024, at his home in Vancouver, Washington. He was born to John and Mildred (Muonio) Sarkinen on November 13, 1940, in Cleveland, North Dakota. He graduated from the Gackle High School and attended the University of North Dakota where he received a degree in electrical engineering.
On November 11, 1961, Curtis married Betty Nelson in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Grand Forks, North Dakota before moving to Vancouver, Washington in 1965. He worked for Bonneville Power for 25 years. Curtis was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church. He enjoyed the outdoors – hunting, fishing, gardening and camping with his children and grandchildren.
Curtis is survived by his wife, Betty; children Laurie (Todd) Kangas, Charles (Tammy) Sarkinen, Lynn (Forrest) Gillette, Luci (Basil) Rotschy, Lois Sarkinen, Carin (Dean) Jablonsky; brother Stephen (Laura) Sarkinen; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Glen (infant), John, Donald, and Darrel; sisters Sylvia, Delores, Flossie, Victoria, and Alice; his son Brad; daughters Lisa and Lavonne (infant); and grandson Francis (infant).
Viewing will be Tuesday evening, July 16, 2024 from 7:00 - 8:00 pm at Old Apostolic Church of Lewisville, 32320 NE Lewisville Highway, Battle Ground, Washington.
Funeral services will be held at Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Lewisville on Wednesday July 17, 2024, at 11:00 AM with viewing one hour before. Final resting place is at Old Apostolic Lutheran Church Lewisville Cemetery.
