Frederick Hillard Striker

Frederick Hilliard Striker, 91, of Battle Ground, WA, was born to Clarence and Alberta Striker in Front Royal, Virginia. He passed away peacefully at the adult family home, where he'd lived for several years. Fred grew up in Front Royal with his mother, oldest sister, Betty, second sister, June, and brother, Jack.

When he turned 18, the police chief said his draft number was next. Rather than be drafted into the Army, he enlisted in the Marine Corps. During his 20 years of service, Fred received multiple commendations, including a purple heart. After numerous duty stations including two tours in Vietnam, he retired.

After retiring, Fred worked for his brother-in-law in security for approximately 11 years.

After that, Frederick held a variety of positions with the Battle Ground School District. When he officially retired from the district, he was elected to the school board. He and his second wife spent even more time in the motorhome crossing the country several times from Battle Ground. Favorite visits included Alaska, the Grand Canyon, and the Kentucky Horse Park.

Frederick was pretty proud of his daughters, his time in the Marine Corps, and his service to the school district. He is survived by his wife, Sara, his daughters, Wenona, Pamala, Angela, and Monica, his grandson, Raymund, his granddaughters, Emalee and Rebecca, and seven great-grandchildren.
