Gerald “ Jerry ” Johnson was born Aug. 30, 1934, in Newport, WA, to Lawrence and Marienne Johnson, and passed away April 17, 2024. Lawrence and Marienne moved their family to Amboy, WA, where Gerald met his future wife, Dorothy. Gerald and Dorothy married in March 1958. Gerald retired after serving 14 years in the US Marine Corps. After retirement, they settled in Amboy where they raised four children, Gay, Chris, Leilani, and Kurt. Gerald remained in the government sector where he retired from the US Forest Service Mount St. Helen’s Monument. Gerald loved the Amboy community. He volunteered many hours, as well as his place of worship, Amboy Church of the Nazarene. Gerald was a loving husband and father, with strong Christian values. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings, and his wife, Dorothy. Gerald is survived by his two siblings, his four children, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at Amboy Grange Hall May 4 at 1 p.m. Potluck to follow. A graveside service with military honors will be held May 11 at noon.
