It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janetta (Jan) L. Piper on
Friday, February 9, 2024. She will be lovingly remembered and sorely missed by
her husband Jim Piper and her two sisters Patricia Brazelton and Karen
Mannakee. She will also be deeply missed by her children: Karl Shaffer, Lynn
Brown, and Mike Shaffer, her six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a
large extended family.
Janetta enjoyed working as a telephone operator and then climbed the
Tupperware Pyramid and even blessed her family with a free car for her amazing
achievement.
She always had time to listen to anyone that needed her. She could be found
chatting to total strangers and was never uncomfortable walking into a function
where she knew no one. Jan would just take the opportunity to make a new
friend. Jan viewed her life as one opportunity after another full of possibilities and
many adventures.
We are all left with dear memories. Jan knew how to enjoy and appreciate life as
she traveled, camped, and lived in at least seven different states and I doubt she
would tell you that there was a favorite. Janetta saw them all for the beautiful
places they were. She enjoyed cooking but loved to bake, and could knit, crochet,
and sew beautifully. Gardening and tending to her roses kept her busy, as well.
Janetta found time to cheer for grandkids at sports events, attended their band
concerts, choir performances, dance recitals for her nieces and nephews,
gymnastics events, and never turned down an opportunity for a game. She
enjoyed professional sports from football, baseball, or even hockey games and
her love for music kept those toes a-tapping and she never turned anyone down if
they cared to dance with her.
Janetta had a love for her Lord Jesus Christ, and we are all comforted knowing she
is wrapped in His loving arms and is smiling upon all of us now.
