Marjorie “Peg” Ann Marchand, 92, passed away in Vancouver, WA, surrounded by her family. She was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY.
After graduation from high school, Peg worked in Manhattan for a publishing company, often using her lunch breaks to see if any Broadway tickets were available for an evening out with her beloved husband, Paul. Upon his return from Korea, Peg and Paul were married July 25, 1953.
From their first date at a Knights of Columbus dance, to seeing the original cast of South Pacific on Broadway, to their honeymoon at Niagara Falls, their loving and supportive marriage carried them out of Brooklyn to New Jersey to Pennsylvania and, ultimately, to Washington.
Peg supported Paul’s career as he traveled for work. Peg was very involved with her cherished Sacred Heart Parish community by making pies for the turkey dinners and Harvest Days, facilitating wedding receptions, helping with senior luncheons, and teaching CCD. Sewing and knitting were Peg’s passion, especially for the babies of Birthright. Peg did all things with love and generosity, even cooking, as she loved spending time with family and friends.
Peg is survived by her two sons, Robert (Theresa) Marchand and Richard Marchand; two daughters, Carol (John) Marsh and Marjorie Marchand; grandsons, Cory (Sarah), Casey, Rob (Colleen), and Greg (Becca); granddaughters, Lauren (Peter) and Meghan; great-granddaughters, Ava, Ella, Addie, Ellie and Alice.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Thursday, June 13, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1603 N. Parkway Ave., Battle Ground, WA, where Peg was a member for 45 years. A reception will be held in the church hall immediately after Mass. Peg will be laid to rest at Willamette National Cemetery with Paul.
To honor Peg’s memory, contributions can be made at Birthrightwa.org.
