Rodger Wayne York, aged 82, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2024, in Battle Ground, Washington. Born on November 23, 1941, in Neosho, Missouri, Rodger devoted his life to his family, his community, and his myriad of interests and pursuits. 

A proud Veteran, Rodger served in the Navy. His commitment to service continued into his civilian career as a Hydro Electrical Engineer, where he worked with General Electric and later with Grant County PUD, contributing significantly to energy solutions in the region. 

Rodger's academic pursuits were fulfilled at Sandy Union High School in Sandy, Oregon where he met his wife Marna, followed by receiving his Bachelors of Science degree at Oregon State University and a Certificate in Lay Ministry from Whitworth College. His passion for learning never waned, evident in every aspect of his life, from his professional endeavors to his personal interests. 

A bibliophile at heart, Rodger nurtured an impressive collection of books and was an avid reader. His other hobbies included beekeeping, gardening, and woodworking, each reflecting his love for nature and craftmanship. Rodger was also a founding member of the Riverside Presbyterian Church in Desert Aire, Washington, where he was deeply involved in community and religious activities, embodying his faith through service and support to others.

Rodger leaves behind a loving family: his wife Marna L. York; daughter Roxanne M. Sutton; son Rodger A. York; grandchildren Devin M. Sutton, Lara R. Sutton, Gabe W. York, Paige A. York; and siblings Dick York, Carole Nichols, and Betty Fischer. His legacy as a faithful husband, father, grandfather, and steadfast friend will be cherished by all who knew him. 

A service to celebrate Rodger's life will be held at Layne's Funeral Services, located at 16 NE Clark Ave, Battle Ground, Washington, on August 9, 2024 at 2:00 pm.
