Samuel Harold Gorton, a long-time resident of Woodland, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024. Samuel, known by his middle name Harold, was born May 19, 1945, in Glendale, CA, to Dr. Samuel Herbert and Milda Helen (Murray) Gorton. His family moved from California to Colorado before, settling in Woodland, Washington.
Harold was known as a dedicated member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He often taught bible studies and annually participated in the Seventh-day Adventists Camp Meetings in Gladstone, OR. Harold was a member of the Oregon Men's Choir.
Harold was a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a friend and mentor to many, helping those who needed it. He enjoyed classical music, mushroom/olive pizza, and spumoni ice cream. Harold is reunited with his parents, Dr. Samuel "Herb" and Milda Gorton; and brother, Jack Gorton. He is survived by his children Lolita Cupit, Naomi Hermon, Benjamin Gorton, and Mark Gorton; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruthie Krueger; and brother, William Gorton.
