Steven R. Conway, age 70, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 4, 2024, at his home in Brush Prairie, WA.
He was born on July 8, 1954, in Vancouver, to Richard and Jacquelyn Conway. He was a 1973 graduate of Hudson’s Bay High School and attended Clark College following his graduation. He was formerly married to Jennie Conway for 36 years.
He worked for Electro Heavy Equipment for 20 years. Following Electro, he studied computer technology and worked several positions at The Columbian newspaper throughout his working career.
He loved camping with his family and collecting cars, which he called his precious metals. His latest project had been restoring a 1964 Ford Galaxie. His greatest fulfillment was the building of his shop, a long-awaited dream achieved through his family’s aid, which became his pride and joy. He loved Christmas, and with the initials of “SC,” he would joke about moving to the North Pole. He loved to wear his Santa hat every year.
He loved helping where there was a need. He will be remembered as an incredibly quiet man who loved his children, cars, and camping.
He is survived by his mother, Jacquelyn Conway; his siblings, Thomas Conway, Bryan Conway, and Lisa Betker; his former spouse, Jenny Conway; and their eight children, Andrew Conway, Matthew Conway, Peter Conway, Carmi Drorziv, Marianna Feliciano, John-Mark Conway, Luke Conway, and Hannah Laurence; 10 grandchildren; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Steve touched are invited to Layne’s Funeral Home, 16 NE Clark Ave., Battle Ground, WA 98604 at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, 2024, to reminisce, grieve, and support each other.
